Automatic protection adds Home Sale Legal Protection™ to every new seller invite, so you don’t have to choose a plan each time.
It works with or without Premium. You can turn it on from Account Settings or while inviting a seller.
Turn it on from Account Settings
- Click the Settings icon (the gear) in the left menu, then open the Billing tab.
- Under Add protection to every seller, click Turn on automatic protection.
- Choose Pay now or Pay at closing.
- Choose the 2-year or 4-year plan, then click Choose Payment Method. Note: Pay at closing does not require a card on file.
- Choose a card, or click + Add a new card.
- Click Save changes.
Turn it on while inviting a seller
- At the protection step of a seller invite, choose a plan and when to pay.
- Enter your card details.
- Check Save this card to my payment methods.
- Check Make this my default card for every new seller invite.
- Send the invite.

This plan and card become your defaults for future invites.
You can also turn it on when you add a card: check Automatic protection and choose a plan.
Sending invites with automatic protection on
Your default plan is added to each new invite automatically. To skip it or change it for one seller, click Change plan for this seller or Send invite without protection. Your default stays the same for future invites.

Change your plan
When automatic protection is on, the Billing tab shows your plan, the price per order, and the card it’s charged to.

To change your plan:
- Click Change plan.
- Choose Pay now or Pay at closing.
- Choose the 2-year or 4-year plan, then click Choose Payment Method.
- Choose a card and click Save changes.

Your new plan applies to new invites only. Sellers you’ve already invited keep their current plan.
Turn it off
- On the Billing tab, click Turn off.
- Click Turn it off.

New invites will no longer include protection, and you’ll add it order by order instead. Sellers who are already protected stay protected.
Good to know
- Turning it off leaves your card on your account.
- If your brokerage turned it on for you, you’ll see “Opted in by broker” and can’t change it. Contact your broker.
